The 3rd Annual Lobby Day was a great success!
Our sea of gold shirts was impossible not to notice as we
entered the state capitol. Many of our members took this
opportunity to meet with their state representatives, and were
able to
speak with them face to face about the issues that are affecting
their jobs, families and communities. If you missed the
opportunity to attend Lobby Day but you would like to get
involved in future outings, please contact Joanie Huddleston

Some people wonder, why do
politics matter to my union? It's because years of hard earned
gains at the bargaining table can be erased with one stroke of
the political pen. The
officials we elect and the laws they enact have a lot to do with
how well our Union can work for you. mes from
separate, voluntary contributions from concerned members who
contribute to the Active Ballot Club (ABC).
|
The purpose of the Active Ballot
Club is to
encourage and enable 951 members to participate in the political
process. Living in a democracy has its benefits, but making
democracy work carries with it a responsibility to become
involved. The Active Ballot Club helps us
participate in the democratic life of our community and our
nation.
Members support the Active Ballot Club through small, regular
deductions from their paycheck, through raffles, and other
fundraising. The average contribution is only 50 cents a week. While
the
individual amounts are small, they add up to the ability to do a lot of good!
Those who support the Active Ballot Club receive a UFCW
Member Discount Card
which provides them with discounts at local and
national merchants.
If you have any questions regarding the Active Ballot Club or
politics, contact your Union Representative at 1-800-999-0951.
