Executive Vice President

In 1973, Executive Vice President Shirley Perez began her career as a cashier at Meijer #17 in Holland, and 20 years later transferred to Meijer #47, also in Holland. She has also worked as a courtesy clerk and has assisted with cashier training.

Perez has served as union steward since 1985, and served on UFCW 951 Executive Board since 1989. Serving the membership comes naturally to Perez, as she is well known for guiding and watching over her coworkers.

"I find the union to be a very important part of my work life, as it helps protect my rights and the rights of my fellow coworkers," Perez said. "If it wasn't for my union, I wouldn't be where I am today!"

Perez is active in the Holland community where she lives. She spends her free time volunteering and assisting with Holland High School events. She is also involved with her church choir and enjoys spending time with her family, including her three children and four grandchildren. .
