Leadership The leadership of UFCW 951 includes an Executive Board and five executive officers: President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recorder, and two Executive Vice Presidents. The Executive Board is comprised of fifty-seven UFCW 951 members who work in the units that 951 represents - just like you! The Board meets quarterly to establish the Local’s agenda, conduct Union business and authorize expenditures.   Executive Officers -  President Marv Russow -  Recorder Karin Hopman -  Executive Vice President John Cakmakci Executive Board - Central Region - South/Eastern Region - Western Region Stewards and Union Representatives Stewards and Union Representatives are there to help you understand your contract and make sure you are fairly and justly represented. Stewards are your first line of defense. They work where you work and are the eyes and ears of the Union. Stewards are trained to answer your questions, keep you informed, and file a grievance on your behalf when your rights are violated. If you are ever called into a disciplinary meeting with management, be sure to ask for a Steward to be present. Union Representatives are experienced, full-time employees of UFCW 951; most of them come directly from our membership. Their responsibilities include coordinating the activities of the Union, supporting and supervising the Stewards, and communicating with the membership. Staff Only! click here for access. Each Representative services several units which can employ up to 250 members each. They spend most of their time at the worksites, not the 951 offices. If you need to contact your Representative, call the Grand Rapids office and leave a message with your name, number, and a time span when you'll be available. Representatives can check their messages remotely, and will attempt to return your call within 48 hours. A Union Representative, not a Steward, files a grievance on your behalf when you have been terminated from your employment. Make sure to contact your Representative right away if you have been terminated. There is a limited time during which he or she can file a grievance for you.
