Bringing Value to Union Membership
July 26, 2011 - Members contributing to either The Foundation or the Active Ballot Club, A.B.C., are eligible for a Member Discount Card designed to provide meaningful discounts both in your neighborhood and nationally.
Over the past year, Local 951 has contracted hundreds of merchants in your community in an effort to secure discounts for you and your family. Many local merchants have agreed to offer special discounts to the 951 membership, in addition to national vendors already participating in this program. The types of discounts available range from entertainment, automotive, health and beauty, gifts and shopping to financial services.

Union Plus
To add extra value to union membership, over 20 years ago, the AFL-CIO created Union Privilege, a not-for-profit organization offering consumer benefits to retired and active union members and their families. Over the years, Union Plus has become the trusted brand name that over 3 million union members rely upon for consumer-related benefits, and are the only benefits organization endorsed by the AFL-CIO and its over 60 international unions.
Today, Local 876 members can take advantage of over 50 money saving benefits available through the Union Plus program which range from entertainment and travel discounts, to legal and medical savings.
"The Union Plus program uses the collective purchasing power of millions of union members, to offer members a wide range of high quality benefits with great value," Marv Russow, Local 951's president said. "With the Union Plus programs, members and their family receive union member only rates, so members won't find the savings and benefits associated with the Union Plus programs anywhere else. Plus, Union Plus programs are designed specifically for union members with discounts and special features, like skip payments and financial assistance in the event of a disability or layoff."
Many members are currently taking advantage of one or more of the Union Plus programs, and several have won Union Plus Scholarships and First Time Home Buyers awards. However, Local 951 wants all members to know about the savings opportunities available to them through Union Plus.
Equally as important as the benefits provided through Union Plus, is the Union Plus Member Advocacy Program which helps members resolve any problems or concerns they may have with a Union Plus program. Members with a questions or issue can contact Union Plus Member Advocacy Programs at 1.800.472.2005 from 8:30 - 4:30 p.m.
"Members should feel confident about the Union Plus program, they will be in good hands, and have plenty of resources available to them through Union Plus," Russow said.
