The UFCW International Constitution sets dues rates for UFCW members across the country. UFCW 951 pays roughly half of your dues to the UFCW International one month in advance, also specified by the International Constitution. The current formula is your pay rate for two hours plus $11 or $25.08–the UFCW minimum.
Employers don’t collect dues during a new employee’s first four weeks. For the four weeks after that, the employer will deduct two normal dues payments each week. UFCW 951 uses these four double payments–one month’s worth of dues in advance–instead of charging a large, up-front initiation fee common to other local labor unions.
Here is the schedule for dues recalculations for 2008. On the first day of these months, your employer will adjust the dues deducted from your paycheck to correspond with your pay rate on that date. Your dues rate stays fixed at that level even if you get a raise during the next twelve months. |
